“indk is an American heavy metal group formed in Decatur, Illinois in 1999. Focused on industrial sounds, the band has made waves for their aggressive and driving riffs, as well as their onstage theatrics. Having released multiple award-winning albums, the group have firmly cemented themselves in heavy metal history.”
The goal of this project was to create a band from scratch, designing everything from their cover art, to merchandise, to their backstory. Using images of 5 band members generated using Midjourney AI, I was able to create legitimacy for a band that never really existed. This project sought to combine all of the relevant design practices used in the music industry in furtherance of a band’s success and image.
Starting by creating images of the band members, I used Midjourney and a number of prompts to generate images that I felt best fit the aesthetic I wanted for the band.
From there, I began collecting inspiration in 90’s and early 2000’s alt rock albums.
I gathered elements to create the front and back cover of the initial album, and to establish the theme I was going for with this album
